The team

Toronto Metropolitan University's Facilities Management & Development oversees the safety, development, operations, and maintenance of the university's buildings, facilities, grounds and people across four million square feet of space in 42 buildings on 27 acres of land.

The Opportunity

What does it take to create a university environment where people can learn, teach, research, and work with confidence? Behind every safe laboratory, workshop, and learning environment is a network of people, systems, and practices working together to identify risks, strengthen compliance, and prevent incidents before they happen. As the EHS Technical Coordinator, you'll play an important role in that work—providing the technical, analytical, and organizational expertise that helps foster a safe and healthy environment across Toronto Metropolitan University.

Working as part of the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team, you'll help maintain the systems, information, and processes that support critical safety programs across the university. You'll work with laboratories, workshops, and other areas to verify chemical inventories, maintain accurate safety information, and support compliance with WHMIS, chemical safety, and Ontario Fire Code requirements. You'll conduct site visits and laboratory safety compliance audits, identify gaps and opportunities for improvement, document findings, and help develop practical recommendations that strengthen safety practices.

Your ability to combine careful analysis with attention to detail will help ensure that potential risks are identified and addressed before they become bigger problems.
