POSITION DESCRIPTION
The University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies (UTIAS) in the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time teaching stream position in Aerospace Engineering . The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027 .
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must have earned a PhD degree in aerospace engineering or a related area by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching in undergraduate- and graduate-level courses covering at least one broad area from (i) aeronautics; (ii) spacecraft engineering (e.g cubesats, rocketry, space mission design); (iii) aerospace robotics (e.g. unmanned aerial vehicles, space robotics) .
We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths .
Applicants must hold, or be eligible to obtain, registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario. Registration is a requirement for faculty members teaching design courses to undergraduate students, as mandated by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB) for program accreditation purposes. Candidates must have teaching experience in a degree-granting program, including lecture preparation and delivery, curriculum development, and development of online material/lectures. Additionally, candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry and a demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activities.
Evidence of excellence in teaching and a commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry will be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, the teaching dossier (including the required materials outlined below), and strong letters of reference.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be assigned a teaching and service load.
HIRING SALARY RANGE
The salary range is $125,000 to $150,000 CAD per annum, depending on experience. Negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
