Job Summary

As a Wind Maintenance Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and safety of wind turbines. This position involves performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks to maximize turbine performance and reliability. Under the guidance of the Maintenance Lead, you will contribute to high levels of turbine availability while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance & Repairs: Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, corrective repairs on turbine components, and component replacement to keep systems in optimal condition. Adhere to maintenance documentation and checklists during activities.
  • Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety procedures, ensure proper use of PPE, comply with environmental regulations and company standards, and participate in safety trainings and tailboard meetings.
  • Technical Expertise & Troubleshooting: Stay up-to-date with the latest wind turbine technologies and industry best practices; collaborate with the Maintenance Lead and technical support to resolve complex turbine issues.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate maintenance logs (including LOTO, PDRs, tailboards, and checklists) and communicate effectively with site management and the Maintenance Lead Technician to ensure smooth operations.

Requirements Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in wind energy or a related field preferred.
Experience
  • Required:

    Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in wind turbine maintenance, specifically on GE turbines.
  • Preferred:
    Experience with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting in wind energy systems.
Skills
  • Troubleshooting Expertise:
    Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Tool Proficiency:
    Experience using hydraulic, battery, and hand torque tools.
  • GE Wind Turbine Knowledge:
    Familiarity with GE wind turbine technologies, maintenance procedures, and diagnostic tools.
  • Communication:
    Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with the team and report to management.
  • Organizational

    Skills:

    Excellent organizational skills for keeping accurate maintenance records and logs.
Certifications
  • Required:

    GWO certifications (BST, BTTI, BTTH, BTTE, BTTB, ART, SART).
  • Preferred: OEM Wind Turbine certifications
Physical & Work Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding environments.
  • Comfort working at heights (up to 300 feet) and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and remote locations.
