Role OverviewThe Senior Risk Engineer – Energy & Power supports underwriting of complex energy, power, and construction risks, providing specialized technical expertise that drives underwriting performance and strengthens client relationships. This role combines deep technical analysis with market-facing engagement and will play a key role in shaping risk engineering capabilities for a specialized and high-value portfolio.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct pre-bind risk assessments, site surveys, and technical evaluations of energy and power risks
- Develop sector-specific risk frameworks, including grading tools and EML methodologies
- Provide risk improvement recommendations, loss reviews, and account service plans
- Partner with underwriters on complex risk evaluation and deal support
- Participate in client meetings, broker engagements, and technical presentations
- Contribute to underwriting guidelines and emerging risk analysis in energy and construction sectors
- Maintain deep knowledge of industry technologies, operations, and evolving risks
- Support Everest’s positioning as a technical leader in specialty underwriting markets
- 5–10 years of experience in energy, power, or oil & gas risk engineering
- Strong technical expertise in power generation, industrial energy systems, or infrastructure
- Degree in Engineering
- Experience with large, complex or specialty accounts
- Strong client-facing and presentation skills
- Ability to translate technical insights into underwriting and commercial outcomes
The base salary range for this position is CAD 140,000 - CAD 190,000 annually. All offers include access to a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO). This position is an add to staff.
