Responsibilities
Execute model simulations using the WIS:dom suite of tools, provide output analysis to the ESP team and external groups, simulate energy systems under different scenarios, conduct forecasting for energy demand and supply over varying horizons.
Integrate large datasets into the modeling framework, gather and validate input data, locate market data, translate into model parameters, maintain version control and documentation.
Automate repetitive tasks, improve workflows and modeling accuracy.
Translate complex model outputs into actionable insights for decision-makers including engineers, project managers, and policymakers.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (modelers, developers, analysts, GIS, transmission analysts) to align models with real-world conditions and objectives; support development of Pattern mathematical models and simulations.
Make customizations to WIS:dom branches and assumptions that may impact business decisions.
Key Accountabilities
Execute model simulations using WIS:dom suite and provide output analysis.

Translate outputs into insights.
Work with multidisciplinary teams to align models.
Make customizations that impact decision-making.
Education
Bachelor’s and/or master’s in electrical engineering, economics, mathematics, or a related quantitative field (power system emphasis desired).
Experience
3-5 years of experience in energy trading, renewables development, or energy industry forecasting/analytics/research.
High-level understanding of capacity expansion and production cost modeling (commercial or open source).
Familiarity with optimization techniques and algorithms.
Knowledge of energy systems and grid operations.
Ability to work with large datasets, ensuring data integrity.
Strong problem-solving skills for complex energy scenarios.
Ability to manage deadlines and coordinate across teams.
Technical Skills
Excellent programming skills in Python, GAMS, Julia.
Experience with software development best practices (version control with Git).
Familiarity with HPC environments.
Preferred: experience with cloud platforms and large-scale data tools (Azure, Databricks).
Compensation and Benefits
The expected starting pay range for this role is $86,000 - $108,000 USD. In addition to base pay, there is a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability insurance, life insurance, voluntary benefits, family care benefits, employee assistance program, paid time off, bonding leave, paid holidays, 401(k) retirement plan with employer contribution, and employee referral bonuses.
