Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Corrosion Engineer / Specialist

ICE Dragon Corrosion is a specialist engineering firm focused exclusively on corrosion risk management for critical infrastructure, mining, and marine assets. We partner with organizations that operate complex, high-risk assets and need more than just inspections. They need engineering judgement, practical solutions, and programs that actually work in the real world.

We are hiring a senior-level corrosion professional to lead and support marine and infrastructure programs in Atlantic Canada. This is a high-impact consulting role for someone who wants to combine deep technical work with client leadership, field engagement, and long-term asset performance.

This is a hybrid role based in Halifax, with regular site and field work.

What you will do:

You will operate as a senior corrosion engineer or specialist embedded in client programs, with accountability for both technical quality and real-world outcomes.

Your work will include:

  • Leading field-based corrosion audits, inspections, and condition assessments across marine and infrastructure assets
  • Analyzing corrosion data, inspection results, and asset condition metrics to identify degradation mechanisms, root causes, and risk trends
  • Supporting coating, materials, and surface preparation decisions, including specifications, QA, and QC oversight
  • Providing technical input into cathodic protection design, testing, and maintenance strategies
  • Producing clear, defensible technical reports and explaining findings to client engineering, operations, and leadership teams
  • Supporting failure analysis, integrity reviews, and investigation of asset degradation issues
  • Contributing to project planning, proposal development, and technical scope definition
  • Acting as a trusted technical partner to clients by coaching field teams, building stakeholder confidence, and helping drive adoption of proactive corrosion management practices
  • Collaborating with ICE Dragon engineers, specialists, and program leads to continuously improve corrosion management approaches

This role combines engineering judgement, field presence, and client-facing technical leadership. You will not just identify problems. You will help clients understand them, prioritize them, and fix them in a way that lasts.

Who this role is for:

We are open to two strong profiles:

  • A Professional Engineer with corrosion experience
  • A highly experienced corrosion specialist with recognized industry certification

You should bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree in materials, chemical, mechanical, civil, or a related discipline
  • At least 5 years of experience in corrosion, coatings, inspection, NDT, or asset integrity
  • Direct involvement in projects, inspections, reporting, or engineering deliverables
  • Comfort working in both field and office environments
  • Strong written and spoken English
  • Canadian citizenship or permanent residency (required for security-cleared client work in Halifax)

If you are not a P.Eng, AMPP certification is required.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in marine, coastal, infrastructure, or heavy industry environments
  • PMP training or project leadership experience
  • Experience presenting, training, or writing technical papers
  • French or Spanish

How we work:

ICE Dragon is not a traditional consulting firm. We work with clients as partners, not as vendors. That means we look for people who bring both technical depth and professional judgement.

The people who do well here are curious, grounded, and confident without being arrogant. They take ownership, ask good questions, and care about doing work that actually makes assets safer and more reliable. You should be comfortable working with clients, giving and receiving feedback, and helping others learn.

Compensation and benefits:

This is a senior-level role with a base salary up to $140,000, depending on experience and qualifications. A performance bonus program is part of the total compensation package.

ICE Dragon also offers:

  • RRSP program (50% Employer match up to annual cap)
  • Extended health benefits (50% employer paid premiums - including prescription drugs, paramedical services, dental care, life insurance, travel insurance, and long-term disability)
  • Health Spending Account of $500 per year
  • Annual training budget of $650 (Work or Personal Focus)
  • Paid time off and flexible working arrangements

Why Halifax:

Halifax is a growing coastal hub with a strong marine, infrastructure, and defence presence. It offers a high quality of life, shorter commutes, and access to ocean, trails, and a close-knit professional community.

How to apply:

Apply with your resume and a short note about your corrosion background and the kind of work you want to do next.

Due to client security requirements, only Canadian citizens or permanent residents can be considered for this role.

ICE Dragon Corrosion is an equal opportunity employer. We value diversity and are committed to building a respectful, inclusive team.
