What Is the Opportunity?
Reporting to the Technical Director of Aecon Foundations, the Quality Coordinator is responsible for performing in-process and final inspections to ensure construction activities meet technical and quality requirements. The Quality Coordinator will assist with the development and implementation of the approved Project Quality Plan (PQP) and ensure that the plan is adhered to by both Aecon and its subcontractors.
The Quality Coordinator role is generally based on-site or will make site visits for key activities and meetings as required. On assigned projects, the Quality Coordinator will support the Project Quality Lead and any other quality management roles throughout the execution of the projects.
What You'll Do Here:
- Ensure understanding of quality issues, including risks and opportunities, and effective implementation of the quality plan. Coordinate all the project related quality control and assurance processes and documentation.
- Perform quality inspections and testing activities in accordance with the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) or Project quality Plan (PQP) requirements.
- Complete all associated records to document the status and results of performed inspections.
- Supervision of visual inspections and Non‑Destructive Examinations (NDE), including 3rd party subcontractors.
- Verify that material meets Purchase Order, Code, Standards requirements.
- Initiate non‑conformance reports when required and follow up on their resolution.
- Support pre‑construction activities including development and execution of Installation Test Plans (ITPs), material selection and testing, material shop drawings.
- Collaborate with management for interface on Quality activities with internal or external organizations (customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and others).
- Help organize internal and external audits.
- Verify that calibrated equipment is used during the performance of inspection activities.
- Advance quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization.
- Work collaboratively with other divisions of Aecon Group to achieve objectives.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Civil Engineering Technology Diploma or equivalent. A combination of education and industry experience will also be considered.
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in heavy civil and/or infrastructure construction.
