PIA Automation seeks a Senior Software Engineer Team Lead to design, develop, and test automated electronic and pneumatic control components and systems, while following all the applicable standards and procedures of PIA Automation.

  • Compose and review Machine Functionality Document with customer, detailing the intended function
  • Interact with Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Design department personnel
  • Program PLC and HMI according to functionality document
  • Define and document I/O lists for control system
  • Program robots, vision systems, laser welding, leak testers, etc according to functionality document
  • Debug/Troubleshoot automated control systems and machine function
  • Support machine runoff at PIA (or customer) and gain customer approval
  • Write technical machine operating manuals
  • Follow all safety requirements and act in a safe manner

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in EET, BSEE or equivalent
  • Must have minimum three years of experience in the machine automation field
  • Allen Bradley, Siemens, and robot programming: developing code in both an offline environment and via the teach pendant
  • Competency required with Fanuc, Staubli, Kuka, and familiarity with Motoman helpful
  • Experience writing solid PLC code in multiple coding formats (LAD, STL, FBD, SCL, etc.)
  • Must be able to develop complex control systems and architecture
  • Network and communications experience (Profi Net, Profibus, Ethernet, etc.)
  • MS Office skills including Word, Excel and Project
  • Troubleshooting machinery
  • Skilled at reading electrical and pneumatic schematics
  • Firm understanding of machine safety standards
  • Technical writing and written communication including solid PLC code, ladder logic
  • Ability to travel to customer sites up to 30% of the time for commissioning and runoff
