Senior Chemical Engineer (Contract – Part-Time)

Hours: ~30 hours per week

Compensation:

• $40–45/hr (LTD)
• $33–37/hr (Temp / Term)

We are seeking a Senior Chemical Engineer (PhD) to support R&D initiatives focused on advanced materials, hybrid composites, and functional coatings
. This is a part-time contract role contributing to formulation development, material optimization, and performance testing within an applied R&D environment tied to renewable energy and advanced materials.

• Design and optimize material formulations including binders, fillers, and additives
• Develop and test slurries, coatings, curing processes, and surface treatments
• Characterize material performance using rheological, mechanical, and optical testing methods
• Analyze durability, adhesion, flexibility, and environmental performance
• Collaborate with engineers and scientists to support prototyping and iteration
• Support scale-up considerations with attention to safety and process efficiency
• Prepare technical documentation, reports, and IP support as required
• Stay current with developments in materials science and chemical engineering

• PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline
• 5+ years post-PhD R&D experience in composites, polymers, coatings, or hybrid materials
• Hands‑on experience with slurry, emulsion, or coating formulation and testing
• Strong working knowledge of material characterization tools and data analysis
• Experience with additives, reinforcements, and modifiers to enhance material properties
• Ability to work independently in a contract, deliverables-driven environment
• Exposure to sustainable materials or regulated environments is an asset
