MoD is on the hunt for an experienced Hardware Application Designer to develop complex hardware application designs, bookwirings, and equipment layouts that align with engineering and railway signaling principles. This role involves applying established processes to create solutions that meet technical and operational requirements.

Key Duties:
  • When required, serve as Work Package Manager, leading teams of 1 to 5 designers
  • Support project planning, timeline management, and budget tracking to ensure successful delivery
  • Monitor progress across assigned project tasks, ensuring adherence to schedule, budget, and quality standards
  • Deliver project outputs accurately and on time
  • Develop accurate, justifiable estimates for current and emerging technologies
  • Demonstrate familiarity with company work instructions and internal processes
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of Sel Trac signal plans and radio equipment.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of railway infrastructure, including deployment of trackside and equipment room assets in both greenfield and brownfield projects
  • Apply advanced logical reasoning to develop effective hardware application designs and processes
  • Interpret and author requirement documents that ensure traceability from high-level customer designs down to detailed design elements
  • Produce detailed technical design specifications, scopes of work (SoWs), and requests for proposals (RFQs)
  • Work in compliance with relevant standards such as CENELEC and AREMA
  • Prepare specifications for hardware and software components
  • Utilize CAD tools (Micro Station, AutoCAD) and other development software proficiently
Must Haves:
  • Post-secondary diploma in technology or degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering
  • 7-10 years of relevant industry experience
  • Proficient in CAD tools (Micro Station, AutoCAD), SAP Bills of Materials, configuration management, change control processes, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills to engage effectively across all organizational levels and with clients
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
