GSW Solution Designer - Power System​/EMS SCADA Systems

Power & Utility

The Solution Designer should have experience with power system applications and/or SCADA systems

Exposure to one or more EMS applications such as:

• Power Flow

• State Estimation

• Contingency Analysis (including N-1 concepts
  )

• Generation Control /
  Automatic Generation Control (AGC)

• Alarms and calculations

Understanding of how SCADA data quality affects EMS performance

Alternatively, experience with SCADA systems and high-availability control room applications

Hands-on expertise preferably on:

• GE Power On Reliance (XA21)

• AEMS Platform

• GE eTerra

• Power On Advantage Software

• SCADA / DMS / EMS platforms from Siemens, OSI, ABB, Schneider
  , etc.

Display & Visualization

• SLD creation

• HMI development

• Real-time dashboards

• Operator displays and reports

Programming / Scripting

• C, C++, PERL, Java, or equivalent for application interfacing and scripting

Data Handling

• Real-time data acquisition

• Historian integration

• Data replication and logging

Performance Tuning & Monitoring

• Query optimization

• Indexing

• Database health monitoring

Responsible for integrating, configuring, and validating EMS/SCADA solutions for electric utility, TSO, and ISO customers, with a primary focus on end-to-end solution integration rather than pure product development

Work with utilities and grid operators to understand functional and integration requirements for EMS, SCADA, and advanced power system applications such as:

• State Estimation

• Power Flow

• Contingency Analysis

• Automatic Generation Control (AGC)

• Alarms and calculations

Configure and integrate EMS/SCADA applications with:

• Field devices

• Telemetry and RTUs

• Front-end processors

• Adjacent enterprise systems

Perform data modelling, configuration, and interface mapping
, including measurements, controls, alarms, and topology

Develop and execute integration and system test plans
, including regression and performance testing, and support test automation where applicable

Investigate and resolve defects and integration issues by analyzing logs, configuration, and protocol traces

Participate in deployments, commissioning, and cutovers
, including off-hours or on-site support as required

Contribute to technical documentation
, including designs, configuration guides, test reports, and runbooks

Support continuous improvement of integration methods and standards

Experience in incident management, root-cause analysis, and troubleshooting production issues

Approximately 3–5 years of experience with electric utility practices in transmission and/or generation operations

Understanding of grid topology
, substations, lines, voltage levels, and reliability concepts

Awareness of control center processes such as:

• SCADA monitoring

• Alarm handling

• Outage coordination

• Switching

Ability to translate operational requirements into technical specifications and test conditions

Experience: 8–15 years (minimum 8 years)

Education: BS and/or MS in IT / Computer Science / Electrical Engineering
