We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer to provide high-quality consulting services to our growing client base in high-temperature metallurgical operations. You will develop process solutions and participate in studies aimed at defining new processes or supporting business development initiatives to modernize and decarbonize existing processes worldwide.
As a Process Engineer, you will design complex metallurgical flow sheets and run simulation studies for operations such as drying, pre‑reduction, pre‑heating, roasting, smelting, converting and converting with fire refining. You will also manage raw material handling and process gas handling and fugitive emissions. Knowledge of acid plants and electrorefining is an asset.
Key Responsibilities- Be an active member of a multidisciplinary team specialized in high‑temperature engineering.
- Tackle multidisciplinary technical challenges to deliver profitable, safe and timely completion of plant audits and process‑optimization solutions.
- Help evaluate, select and commission new technologies that improve safety, efficiency and profitability of client operations.
- Prepare proposals and serve as a technical link with clients, presenting reports, publications and presentations.
- Develop a network of contacts with suppliers and clients.
- Team player with strong communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and solid understanding of high‑temperature metallurgical processes.
- Enthusiastic about business development and generating value‑adding opportunities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Independent, adaptable, proactive and client‑oriented.
- Creative and innovative in proposing solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers and open to being mentored.
- Willing to participate in university‑level activities to develop pyrometallurgy skills in North America.
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in metallurgy or chemical engineering from a recognized university.
- At least seven (7) years of experience in pyrometallurgical design and development in base, precious or specialized metals.
- Experience in high‑temperature process simulation or design, with a strong desire to keep up to date with design tools.
- Ability to register as a professional engineer in Canada.
- Active participation and representation of BBA at conferences and university events.
- Occasional travel within Canada or abroad.
