NWI Precision specializes in high-precision machining of helicopter masts, turbine shafts, engine thrust links, and nuclear pressure vessel components used in the aerospace and nuclear industries worldwide. NWI Precision’s 120,000 sq. ft. facility is located at 9 Fenmar Drive in Toronto. Our dedicated team prides themselves on delivering the highest quality products, to specifications and on time. NWI Precision is currently seeking a Quality Manager.
The Quality Manager will lead the Quality Department and oversee the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure total compliance with AS9100 and customer-specific requirements. This role is a key leadership position responsible for driving a Zero Defect culture and managing all internal and external audit functions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- QMS Oversight: Maintain and continuously improve the QMS in accordance with AS9100 Rev D, ISO 9001
, AS13100 and NADCAP standards. - Audit Leadership: Act as the primary interface for FAA, DCMA
, and customer audits; manage the internal audit program to ensure ongoing certification readiness. - Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA): Lead the investigation of non-conformances (NCRs) and manage the Material Review Board (MRB) process using 8D, 5 Whys, and Fishbone methodologies.
- Continuous Improvement: lead all continuous Improvement activities int eh company. Drive a culture of innovation and zero defect throughout the organization. Leading all Kaizen events and waste elimination in the company. Using Six Sigma tools drive the process capabilities at Six Sigma level for all processes.
- Supplier Quality: Oversee supplier qualification, performance scorecards, and onsite audits to ensure supply chain integrity.
- Production Support: Review and approve First Article Inspections (FAIs) per AS9102 and support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) for new product introductions.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of Quality Engineers and Inspectors, ensuring all staff are trained in proper inspection techniques and GD&T.

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical discipline is required.
- Experience: requires 8+ years of experience in aerospace quality management, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role, 2-3 years as Quality Engineer for Aerospace company.
- Technical Proficiency: deep knowledge to interpret complex engineering drawings, technical specifications, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Certifications: Highly preferred certifications include Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of FAA,
EASA
, CPG and ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) export controls
- First Pass Yield (FPY) and Scrap/Rework rates reduce month over month
- On-Time Delivery (OTD) and Supplier Quality Ratings above 95%.
- Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) reduced month over month.
- Audit performance and timely closure of Corrective Action Reports (CARs) 100% passing
- Customer’s RMAs reducing month over month leading to zero.
- Standards & Compliance Mastery: In-depth knowledge of AS9100 Rev D is the baseline. You must also understand FAA,
EASA
, and ITAR/EAR regulations to ensure legal and safety compliance. - Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Proficiency in structured problem-solving methodologies like 8D
, 5 Whys
, and Fishbone (Ishikawa) diagrams is essential for resolving non-conformances. - Statistical Process Control (SPC): The ability to use data-driven tools like Minitab or Excel to monitor process stability, analyze trends, and identify anomalies before they become defects.
- GD&T & Blueprint Reading: Advanced ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to verify that parts meet exact specifications.
- Diplomatic Leadership: The ability to confidently "stop the line" or deny a shipment when quality is compromised, even under intense pressure from management or customers.
