- Administer the EHS Program.
- Promote the highest level of safety throughout the project.
- Provide direction and support for managers, supervisors, and sub‑contractors regarding their responsibilities.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive safety culture.
- Ensure all workplace parties fulfill their responsibilities for the EHS program.
- Conduct safety orientation for workers, owners and clients; participate in pre‑planning stages of work.
- Assist in the management of worker’s compensation claims.
- Conduct workplace safety audits and inspections.
- Walk project site with workers, owners, and other stakeholders safety representatives to assess safety and address deficiencies.
- Conduct hazard assessments and control activities, providing coaching when necessary.
- Investigate accidents and incidents and produce timely investigation reports.
- 5 years’ experience in construction Health and Safety.
- Experience in preparing for COR or ISO 45001 audits.
- Health and safety certification such as National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO), Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Gold Seal Certificate (GSC), or related degree/diploma.
- Good working knowledge of OHSA, WSIB policies and safety legislation.
- Experience liaising with external parties such as government inspectors, sub‑contractors, and the public.
- Experience co‑chairing a Joint Health and Safety Committee.
- Experience presenting project and site‑specific orientations to small and large groups.
- Experience preparing and reviewing policies and procedures.
- Ability to procure and manage safety supplies.
- Experienced in investigating workplace incidents.
- Ensure subcontractors and employees comply with safety standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Detailed understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, and standards.
- Desirable:
Experience across all stages of a complex infrastructure project lifecycle. - Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven priority setting, multitasking, and self‑directed work ability.
- Initiative, judgment, and proactive action.
- High degree of organizational skills.
- Ability to travel to sites and work mobile for projects.
- Valid G driver’s license.
- Ability to work off business hours, including weekends.
- Compensation: $80,000 – $100,000 annually (potential for higher based on experience).
