Hire Art is helping our client find a Validation Engineer to establish and execute a robust validation process, from requirements development through final report approval.
In this role, you’ll work cross‑functionally to investigate failure modes, identify root causes, and implement mitigation strategies that inform future designs. You’ll manage both internal and external testing efforts, including supplier‑led validation, to ensure products meet durability, reliability, and safety targets.
The ideal candidate is a hands‑on engineer with strong experience in test and validation, comfortable working across electrical and mechanical systems, and skilled at translating requirements into structured validation plans.
As a Validation Engineer, you'll:
Develop, manage, and execute validation test plans covering mechanical, electrical, and environmental failure modes.
Collaborate with design engineers to define requirements and ensure they are accurately captured within validation plans.
Identify and configure appropriate test assets, data acquisition systems, and sensors to ensure high‑quality data collection.
Analyze test data and deliver clear, concise reports on validation results.
Support DFMEA activities to ensure all potential failure modes are addressed within validation strategies.
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
3+ years of experience in test or validation within automotive, mechatronics, ECUs, or lighting systems
Experience with PCBA failure modes and electrical systems fundamentals
Familiarity with circuit design concepts (e.g., DC/DC converters, drivers, I2C)
Experience with communication protocols such as LIN, Ethernet, and Bluetooth
Experience using requirements management tools (e.g., Polarion or similar)
Hands‑on experience with lab and measurement equipment, including DAQ systems, power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, accelerometers, thermocouples, CAN, LIN, and automotive Ethernet tools
Experience with project management tools such as Jira and Kanban methodologies
Willingness to travel within the Bay Area, with potential for international travel
Bonus Qualifications
Familiarity with 3D CAD tools such as CATIA (3DX or V5) or Solid Works
Experience with EMI/EMC validation
Knowledge of industry standards such as IEC 60068, GMW 3172, IEEE 802.3, USCAR, AEC, and IPC
Experience with Vector tools (e.g., CANalyzer or similar)
Experience with LED drivers or lighting systems (e.g., FMVSS 108)
Experience with infotainment systems
Familiarity with A2B communication protocols
