Role description

Arcadis Professional Services (Canada) Inc. (Arcadis) is currently hiring an Intermediate Environmental Scientist to join our Resilience Team. This full‑time position is based in Ontario. The successful candidate will co‑ordinate and execute activities assigned by Project Managers pertaining to the design, coordination, and implementation of environmental projects including environmental site assessments, groundwater monitoring and sampling programs, and remediation projects.

This position is primarily office‑based; however, some field work and travel will be expected. Field responsibilities include conducting site visits and inspections, monitoring and supervising drilling activities, preparing field notes, collecting soil and groundwater samples, and reporting. The role also requires maintaining knowledge of provincial regulatory frameworks, interpreting environmental data, evaluating sample results, writing reports, and participating in marketing activities such as proposal preparation and obtaining quotations.

The candidate will also aid in creating proposals for new work, work in a team environment to ensure proper project management and operations, and lead smaller project work. This role offers an opportunity to use, learn, and apply foundational environmental science skills in a collaborative culture.

• Full understanding of O.Reg. 153/04 and O.Reg. 406/19
• Knowledge and experience in environmental sampling
• Assisting Project Managers on larger projects and independently running smaller projects
• Experience overseeing subcontractors in an industrial or construction setting
• Ability to apply standard engineering/scientific subject matter to problem solving
• Proficiency in desktop applications, with a strong skill set in Microsoft Excel
• Interest and commitment to expanding digital skills to adapt to evolving industry practices
• Knowledge and experience in data science, data management, and/or geographic information systems (GIS)

• Completed degree in Engineering, Geoscience, or Environmental Sciences
• Current or pending P.Eng. or P.Geo. designation in Ontario; eligibility in other provinces preferred
• 4 to 8 years of experience
• Experience with the Federal framework considered an asset

The salary range for this position is $78,000–117,000. Base salary is within this range and will vary based on location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
