Job Summary

CSA Group is seeking a Technical Expert for Electrical Appliances who will provide senior technical leadership within the Technical Management Department and oversee the support and guidance across all certification offices and network partners worldwide. The role ensures expert technical knowledge, compliance with accreditation requirements, and consistent global services through training and technical oversight.

• Provide clear, timely technical guidance and solutions; help interpret standards and develop compliance paths for new technologies.
• Build, maintain, and leverage a strong industry network; contribute thought leadership through research and presentations.
• Assist with complex projects, mentor staff, and act as a technical expert in legal investigations related to product incidents.
• Establish and maintain technical benchmarks; ensure global consistency in standards and practices.
• Communicate changes and technical decisions; align senior technical staff across regions.
• Deliver training and coaching; foster open technical discussions and support the development of technical staff and training systems.
• Maintain company accreditations; develop certification documentation templates; support audits and gap analysis.
• Ensure expertise in safety practices; contribute to job safety analysis, identify hazards during site visits, complete safety training, and support emergency response procedures and HSSE initiatives.
• Support standards research activities.

• University degree in a relevant engineering discipline; professional registration is preferable.
• Ten (10) years of relevant experience in the electrical appliances area.
• Proven analytical skills and technical experience in interpreting technical requirements within the assigned area of responsibility.
• Experience in standards development activities.

• Exceptional interpersonal, written, oral, and presentation skills.
• Strong training skills to develop staff and pass along knowledge.
• Strong leadership abilities and the capacity to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and decision‑making skills.
• In‑depth knowledge of electrical safety standards and codes in the electrical appliance product area (e.g., CSA C22.2 No.112 & UL2158; CSA C22.2 No.169 & UL2157; CSA C22.2 No.61 & UL858; CSA C22.2 No.150 & UL923).
• Flexibility and teamwork under pressure with multiple projects and deadlines.
• Willingness to travel globally.
• Strong computer skills.

As per the collective agreement, the starting bi‑weekly pay rate for a Principal Technical Lead is $4,424.82 CAD gross. CSA Group reserves the right to determine the appropriate level and pay step within the band, based on education, licenses, certifications, and experience. Employees in this position may be eligible for an annual bonus program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
