Site Supervisor - MEP; Rail & Transit
Role Description
Arcadis is seeking a qualified Site Supervisor – MEP to support the Construction Phase Services (CPS) Lead in delivering engineering services during construction for rail, transit, and major infrastructure projects. Rail and transit experience is mandatory.
ResponsibilitiesThe Site Supervisor – MEP will provide field-based construction observation and technical support to ensure that mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems are installed in accordance with Issued For Construction (IFC) drawings, project specifications, applicable codes and standards, and the overall design intent.
Working closely with the CPS Lead, Engineer of Record, contractors, and project stakeholders, the Site Supervisor will monitor installation activities related to mechanical, electrical, and building systems and verify compliance with design requirements and quality standards. The role supports effective coordination between the design and construction teams and assists in identifying and resolving potential technical or interface issues between MEP systems and other infrastructure components.
The Site Supervisor will observe installation of mechanical systems such as HVAC equipment, ventilation systems, pumps, fire protection systems, communications, transit signals, and associated piping infrastructure; electrical systems including power distribution, lighting systems, cable containment, grounding systems, and equipment installations; and plumbing systems including water supply, drainage, and associated building services infrastructure.
Other responsibilities include documenting field observations, maintaining inspection and surveillance tracking tools, coordinating with contractor representatives to facilitate site inspections and support the resolution of RFIs, NCRs, and Field Change Requests, assisting the design team with review of shop drawings, material submittals, and ITPs, and participating in site coordination meetings, construction progress meetings, and technical discussions related to building systems and infrastructure interfaces.
Qualifications& Experience
Educational requirements:
Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Systems Engineering, or Construction Engineering Technology with specialization in mechanical or electrical systems.
Experience:
Minimum 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in construction inspection, construction observation, or field engineering related to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems on major infrastructure projects. Experience on rail or transit projects, including transit stations, underground facilities, or maintenance facilities, is mandatory.
Skills and knowledge:
Familiarity with applicable standards and codes (CSA standards, Ontario Building Code, Ontario Electrical Safety Code, NFPA standards, and relevant municipal and provincial requirements); strong technical understanding of HVAC, ventilation, electrical distribution, fire protection, plumbing systems, and building service infrastructure; ability to coordinate MEP systems with civil, structural, architectural, and rail system interfaces.
Additional:
Solid written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel); experience using project tracking or documentation systems. Registration with Professional Engineers Ontario is an asset but not mandatory. A valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License is required.

SalaryRange
The salary range for this position is $93,000 - $139,000.
