Réalis provides cutting‑edge engineering, procurement, construction and financing solutions to projects in more than 100 countries. The Industrial Solutions Division seeks a Manager – Automation, Instrumentation & Controls to lead our Toronto team.
- Manages team members while making sure that resource utilization is adequate.
- Maintain team engagement and efficiencies.
- Manages the team's multiple priorities, deliverables and client expectations.
- Identifies market opportunities and develops their team to meet market demand.
- Maintains client relationships and manages client's satisfaction.
- Manages and delivers complex industrial projects in Automation, Instrumentation & Controls, Data Analytics, Industry 4.0, and Internet of Things (IoT).
- Offers value‑added and innovative solutions to clients' challenges, and takes part in the Business Development efforts in their area of expertise.
- Oversees the selection and application of industrial instrumentation, including sensors, analyzers, and control valves.
- Provides coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to team members.
- Provides support, training to clients for this area of expertise.
- Provides technical authority and oversight for I&C engineering activities, ensuring quality, consistency, and compliance with industry standards.
- Reviews and validates technical deliverables including:
- Automation and control system architectures.
- Control philosophies and functional specifications.
- Instrument index, I/O lists, and instrumentation specifications.
- Operating manuals and technical reports.
- Delivers complex projects in their area of expertise by using industry skills to deliver innovative solutions (SCADA, MES, PLC).
- Supports team members in developing design documents, specifications, instrumentation and finalizing other technical documentation.
- Validates the automation design, reports and operating manuals for control systems.
- Ensures proper integration between field instrumentation, PLC/DCS systems, and SCADA/MES platforms.
- Collaborates with other key team members in the Industrial team (Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Validation, etc., both locally and internationally). Ensures alignment between instrumentation design and process, mechanical, and validation requirements.
- Understands Industry 4.0 and IoT to support business growth in that market.
- Prepared to work on Canada wide and International projects.
- Participates in Industry events and conducts presentations.
- Supports local business growth activities.
- University Degree in Computer, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or other pertinent.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant automation experience.
- Experience managing a team of 20–50 resources.
- Experience in the Industries (Pharmaceutical, Biotech and Agro) is preferred.
- Experience providing engineering services related to waste and wastewater treatment would be an asset.
- Hands‑on experience with PLC, DCS, SCADA and MES systems.
- Have a valid driver’s license.
- Experience overseeing or supporting:
- Instrumentation design.
- Commissioning and calibration activities.
- Validation and compliance requirements in regulated industries.
- Strong background in Automation and Instrumentation & Controls within industrial environments.
- Strong understanding of industrial instrumentation, including sensors, analyzers, and control valves.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols, control system integration and cloud‑connected solutions.
- Sales and business development–oriented skills, including client engagement/management, opportunity identification, and proposal support.
- Proven track record of successful projects in a highly dynamic environment.
- Proven track record of successfully managing a team of professionals.
- Highly motivated, organized and able to balance technical, managerial, and commercial responsibilities.
- Bilingualism (French/English) is considered an asset.
Expected compensation for this role is between $116,500 and $194,200 annually (Ontario only).
