The Intermediate Engineer will work on small and medium projects and assist in maintaining a high level of service for the Special Project Structural practice s will entail working closely with the other service groups at Entuitive to ensure consistent, consolidated, and leading‑edge service across the firm. The position also offers the opportunity for both office and field experience, working collaboratively with the project team from initial evaluation through design to construction completion.

What is Special Projects?

The Special Project groups at Entuitive focus on small to medium projects of varying complexity, requiring skills that span many areas of structural engineering. Special project work often involves adding to or modifying existing buildings or working with design teams to provide structural design for unique bespoke requirements. The design work covers all structural materials and often involves understanding and working with antiquated structural systems or limited information on the existing structure.

The teams see projects through from client intent to construction on site. Engineered specialists manage multiple projects simultaneously and excel under tight timelines.

What will you do?
  • Attend client meetings from initial conception throughout the entire project
  • Develop internal project budgets and generate fee proposals
  • Review existing structures to identify as‑built construction details
  • Create computer models to analyze new or existing structures
  • Complete detailed design of a structure and its components using related codes
  • Perform hand calculations for design of steel, concrete, timber, masonry, and CFS elements
  • Work with the in‑house BIM team to develop CAD and Revit drawings for the project
  • Collaborate with other consultants and clients to deliver a successful project
  • Attend construction progress meetings to provide consultation and updates to the project team
  • Review completed and in‑progress works on construction sites
  • Write reports based on observations, assessments, and key findings
  • Coordinate and review submittals and shop drawings during construction phase
  • Mentor and train junior staff in technical aspects of structural design and practical aspects of project delivery
  • Develop relationships with consultants and clients for repeat work
  • Work individually and as part of a team with senior engineers and staff
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • A degree in civil engineering with a focus on structural engineering preferred, plus 5+ years of industry‑related experience
  • P.Eng. designation required; active usage of a professional stamp an advantage
  • Experience in structural design and/or construction engineering for existing buildings
  • Experience reviewing existing structural drawings focused on buildings
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work with people at all levels
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deliverables on an ongoing basis
  • Working knowledge of construction materials and products for building construction, focusing on concrete, steel, wood, and masonry
  • Proficiency with programs such as SAP, SAFE, Hilti Profis, Mass and Woodworks is an asset
  • A valid driver’s license
