Who we need
Reporting to the Director, Development Advisory, we are hiring an Electrical Cost Consultant to join our Toronto-based team. As our new Cost Consultant, you will support the preparation of electrical estimates, quantity take-offs, budgeting, cost planning, and project monitoring activities across commercial, institutional, residential, and infrastructure projects. You will collaborate closely with senior team members, contractors, consultants, and clients while continuing to build your technical expertise and career within a national consulting environment.

As our new Electrical Cost Consultant, you will:
- Support cost planning and estimating activities. You will prepare detailed electrical quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and estimate structures across a range of commercial, institutional, residential, and infrastructure projects. Working from drawings, specifications, and project documentation, you will contribute to accurate and timely project costing throughout various stages of the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate across projects and stakeholders. You will work closely with senior consultants, project teams, contractors, suppliers, consultants, and clients to support budgeting, forecasting, benchmarking, and cost monitoring activities. You will contribute to discussions related to scope, pricing, change orders, and project requirements while helping ensure estimates and deliverables are completed with accuracy and consistency.
- Build technical expertise and consulting capability. You will continue developing your knowledge of electrical systems, construction costing, and consulting practices through mentorship, hands-on project exposure, and collaboration with experienced team members. As your experience grows, you will have the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility, contribute to more complex projects, and expand your role within the team.
You bring:
- The education. You have a diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline. Equivalent practical experience within electrical estimating or construction cost management will also be considered.
- The electrical estimating experience. You have experience in electrical estimating, construction cost management, or cost consulting within the construction, engineering, or development industry. You understand how to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documentation and are comfortable supporting projects through various stages of the estimating and cost planning process.
- The technical foundation. You have experience preparing quantity take-offs and detailed cost estimates for electrical systems, including core power and distribution systems such as switch gear, transformers, generators, and panels. Exposure to lighting, fire alarm, security, communications, or other low-voltage systems is considered an asset.
- The analytical and organizational skills. You are detail-oriented and comfortable working with pricing, quantities, technical documentation, and project data. You can manage multiple priorities, maintain accuracy under deadlines, and approach problems with a logical and solutions-focused mindset.
