Position: University Co Op Student Project Engineering 12 Months Fall 2026

Job Title 51563 - Toronto - Temporary 12 months

Hiring salary range: $2,136.59 – $3,301.53 bi‑weekly

Overview

Hydro One is the largest electricity transmission and distribution provider in Ontario. This role supports the engineering team in designing current and refurbished power substations and transmission lines.

Responsibilities
  • Manage engineering deliverables for the design of current and refurbished power substations and power transmission lines.
  • Track, monitor, and report design progress and analyze key performance indicators of the Engineering Services Division.
  • Assist Project Engineers in coordinating design disciplines to produce designs for replacing or upgrading power equipment and protection and control systems in power stations.
  • Monitor and track progress of design to ensure projects are completed within budget and scheduled timelines.
Professional Development
  • Gain general knowledge of power substation and transmission line design.
  • Develop project management skills including planning, scheduling, control, and reporting.
  • Learn project performance analysis, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Job Requirements
  • Discipline:
    Electrical, mechanical, civil, structural, industrial, or equivalent.
  • Academic Level: Completed at least year 3 of a degree program.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Access, and MS Project; ability to set up macros and perform scenario analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
Additional Conditions
  • Occasional travel to Hydro One power substations under supervision of qualified staff.
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License.
