Your opportunity:
The Civ Min Student Services Office serves more than 900 students across multiple undergraduate and graduate degree programs, 44 professors, hundreds of annual applicants, and numerous other stakeholders. Reporting to the Director, Student Services & External Relations, the Admissions & Programs Coordinator, MEng & MEngCEM provides exceptional service in support of the mission of the Department of Civil & Mineral Engineering.
The incumbent is responsible for supporting growth in the MEng and MEngCEM programs by collaborating with stakeholders to support the development and implementation of innovative recruitment and admissions strategies. The incumbent will be responsible for end to end professional graduate program admissions.
The incumbent is also responsible for program administration & student advising across Civ Min’s two professional graduate programs. Areas of focus include incoming student transition, fostering a positive student academic experience, student retention, tracking and maintaining records, governance changes, registration and course enrolment, data & statistical analysis, and monitoring academic performance.
For the specialized Master of Engineering in Cities Engineering and Management (MEngCEM) program, theincumbent will also be responsible for coordinating skills development programming, liaising with industry and alumni, and assisting students in finding appropriate practicums.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Advising students on academic and/or financial matters by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual's background
- Advising on the appropriateness, precedents and process for petitions and appeals, and suggesting alternative course of action as necessary
- Analyzing statistical information to inform enrollment projections and planning
- Reviewing and assessing admissions applications
- Coordinating the preparation and distribution of program and/or course material
- Analyzing service delivery and/or internal processes and recommending improvements
- Evaluating and recommending appropriate work-integrated learning opportunities for students
- Generating reports
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum four years of recent and related experiencewithin a large post-secondary institution.
- Minimum three years experience in student admissions, including analyzing domestic and international academic credentials to determine admissibility
- Minimum three years experience in academic advising for professional-stream graduate students
- Significant experience with data analysis and data presentation tools (such as Power
BI) - Experience coordinating skills development programming for professional-stream students
- Experience liaising with industry as it relates to student program requirements
- Advanced proficiency using ROSI, Slate and Quercus, or equivalent level student information systems
- Advanced computer skills, including significant experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) & Share Point
- Excellent judgement and diplomacy on sensitive and/or confidential issues
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain productive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with a diverse population
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong initiative, attention to detail, proactive and highly resourceful
- Proven ability to work independently and effectively manage competing priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and quality
