Klohn Crippen Berger Ltd. (KCB) is seeking a Senior Geochemist to support and grow our mining and environmental consulting services. This is an excellent opportunity to join a small but mighty environmental group that provides strategic advice to clients on geochemical aspects of mining projects, including waste management, acid rock drainage, and water treatment.
Responsibilities- Provide insights for optimizing sustainable mining and engineering infrastructure.
- Lead technical studies, manage projects, engage multidisciplinary project teams, and mentor junior and intermediate geoscientists and engineers.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for advancing KCB’s mining geochemistry business.
- Apply and contribute to leading research and emerging technology within the practice of mining geochemistry.
- Contribute to industry best practices and advancement.
- Bachelor degree in Geology, Earth Science, or Environmental Geoscience specializing in Geochemistry or equivalent; specialization in Hydrogeology/Contaminant Transport is also an asset.
- Preference for candidates with graduate degrees.
- Professional registration (e.g., P.Geo., P.Eng.).
- 10+ years of experience related to metal leaching and acid rock drainage geochemical analysis.
- Environmental consulting experience in the mining sector.
- Demonstrated leadership, project management, decision‑making, and coaching skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to translate and present geochemical datasets in ways that lead to positive client outcomes in English (French and Spanish language skills are an asset).
- Respect for applying a high standard of professional and scientific rigor to all projects and deliverables.
- Experience in training and mentoring intermediate and junior staff.
- Aptitude for geoscience team building.
- Strong commitment to safety, taking ownership of Health & Safety protocols.
- Proficiency in geochemical software packages, data management, and/or statistical analysis tools.
- Ability to travel within Canada and internationally as project work requires.
- Passion for collaborating with clients and fostering long‑term relationships.
- Desire to conduct strategic business planning, particularly in growing a team.
- Strong initiative and commitment to technical excellence and enthusiasm toward long‑term success.
- Salary range: $110,000 to $160,000 per year (based on experience, education, and skill level).
