As a Design Engineer at INKAS® Armored Vehicle Manufacturing, you will be responsible for the development, refinement, and release of engineered components, assemblies, and systems used in heavy vehicle and military vehicle manufacturing. This role supports product design from concept through production, ensuring that all deliverables meet applicable engineering, manufacturing, quality, safety, and customer requirements.

Play a key role in improving design, manufacturability, and durability while supporting high‑performance, mission‑critical vehicle systems.
What you’ll do   Design and develop components, subassemblies, and systems for heavy vehicle and military vehicle applications.
Prepare and revise 2D drawings, 3D models, bills of materials, and technical documentation.
Support prototype builds, design validation, testing, and production release activities.
Work collaboratively with manufacturing, quality, procurement, program management, and supply chain teams.
Review design concepts for manufacturability, serviceability, durability, and cost effectiveness.
Investigate and resolve design‑related issues identified during prototype or production build phases.
Participate in design reviews, engineering change management, and product improvement initiatives.
Ensure compliance with internal standards, customer specifications, and relevant industry requirements.
Support root‑cause analysis and corrective action activities related to design concerns.
Interface with suppliers and external partners as required to support project execution.
Required qualifications   Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Additional degrees/diploma in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Process Design or Automation are considered assets.
Minimum 5 years of engineering design experience in manufacturing of heavy vehicle‑related industries.
Proficiency in NX CAD software and related engineering documentation tools.
Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and product requirements.
Experience working in a cross‑functional manufacturing environment.
Preferred qualifications   Experience in heavy vehicle, defense, military vehicle, off‑highway, or specialty equipment manufacturing.
Knowledge of welded structures, sheet metal, brackets, enclosures, assemblies, fastening methods, and service access considerations.
Familiarity with design for manufacturability, design for assembly, and validation processes.
Exposure to engineering change control, BOM management, and product lifecycle processes.
Working knowledge of GD&T, DFMEA, PFMEA, and prototype development.
Competencies   Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Attention to detail and technical accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven environment.
Effective communication and collaboration across departments.
Practical approach to engineering solutions in a production setting.
Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Working Environment  This position operates in a manufacturing environment and may require time on the production floor, in prototype build areas, and in engineering offices. The successful candidate must be comfortable collaborating with shop‑floor personnel and adapting designs to real‑world production constraints.
