Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor

Overview

The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for directing and coordinating maintenance operations on a Thursday‑Sunday schedule, focusing on preventive and corrective actions on conveyors, fans, pumps and centrifugal machines to meet quality, reliability, safety, cost and delivery objectives.

The role requires a safety‑first culture, compliance with company policies, and proactive identification and correction of maintenance inefficiencies.

• Direct the maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment by eliminating hazards, training employees, and promoting safety awareness.
• Oversee incident reporting and root cause analysis.
• Takes corrective action to reduce safety risks, maintenance problems and waste to maximize continuous availability of refinery equipment.
• Review, approve and schedule maintenance work orders.
• Provide resources, inspect work in progress and after completion for accuracy and timeliness.
• Coordinate daily maintenance work to ensure maximum equipment uptime while utilizing available equipment, tools, materials and manpower.
• Articulate a plan of action and direct maintenance personnel to achieve continuous operation.
• Manage personnel to maximize efficiency of repairs.
• Monitor maintenance tasks to ensure compliance with quality and GMP requirements.
• Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program in accordance with manufacturer’s or engineering guidelines, and manage resource allocation and scheduling.
• Ensure proper maintenance of department records on all equipment and company property.
• Interface with outside vendors for equipment and parts purchases; collect technical data; submit proposals for new equipment or parts.
• Review costs and take action to eliminate or minimize unnecessary spending.
• Perform root cause analysis on equipment breakdowns and develop corrective action plans.
• Develop and execute projects to replace or overhaul equipment such as tanks, pumps and blowers.
• Supervise special maintenance/engineering projects and ensure highest level of workmanship.
• Assist in preparing and completing technical and non‑technical documents, training, production and maintenance procedures, drawing packages and other related documentation.
• Ensure that all areas and equipment are maintained in good housekeeping condition.
• Review timecards for accuracy.
• Prepare and track scheduling and cost of expenditures for contracted and major maintenance projects.
• Assist the Reliability Engineer/Planner in the development of the Weekend Shutdown Maintenance Work plan and other outage plans.

• 5+ years related experience required.
• Three years of maintenance supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience operating SAP systems preferred.
• Mechanical knowledge required; electrical and PLC knowledge strongly preferred.
• Previous experience in food manufacturing is an asset.

Mechanical, mechatronics or chemical engineering degree preferred.

$90,000 to $130,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
