- (Internal title: Construction Management II)
- Responsible for monitoring the technical requirements of the work and verifying quantities.
- Performs construction engineering assignments of a varied nature requiring a full working knowledge of construction engineering practices.
- Monitors the activities of contractors to ensure compliance with project technical requirements.
- Ensure that safety and creation as well as maintenance of a safe workplace and environment is the primary consideration and first priority in the delivery of all work.
- Reviews contractor’s documentation including risk assessments, method statements and inspection and test plans. Attends necessary inspections of the works on behalf of the client.
- Monitors the contractor’s assurance activities including the resolution of non-conforming items.
- Assists construction superintendents and contractors in planning construction methods and procedures. Coordinates and resolves engineering or construction problems with superintendents and contractors.
- Interprets design engineering drawings and may prepare construction working drawings for the use of superintendents and contractors as required, including (1) Temporary construction facilities, (2) Field sketches of revisions and additions and preparing “as built” drawings.
- Reviews design drawings, related vendor and contractor drawings and installation instructions and studies interference problems.
- Verifies contractor’s commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database programs as required.
- Reviews field change notices/requests, extra work orders and back charge notices.
- Implements project controls tools on the construction site.
- Assists in the preparation of cost estimates and reviews project design and engineering bills of materials to ensure their completeness.
- Prepares and maintains daily reports.
- Assists in the verification of contractor’s applications for payment.
- Reviews updated contractor schedules, as assigned.
- Provides input to constructability and lessons learned.
- May be required to provide input on employee reviews of assigned subordinate personnel
