What You Will DoReporting to the Senior Engineer, Structural Maintenance, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading structural design work and review designs from internal and external teams to ensure they meet TTC and industry standards for safety, maintainability, and cost-effectiveness. You will provide expert structural insight across a wide range of assets—from subway tunnels and surface bridges to stations and elevated track structures.
You will also help support the maintenance and renewal of existing infrastructure, ensuring long‑term reliability and performance. The Engineer will also work collaboratively with our structural maintenance teams to integrate real‑world maintenance considerations into design solutions and contribute to technical reports, specifications, standards, and budgeting processes that guide decision‑making and project approvals. This is more than a design role—it’s a chance to influence the integrity and longevity of the TTC’s transit infrastructure.

You are registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario holding a university degree in civil or structural engineering, supported by extensive experience in structural design and maintenance. You will need to demonstrate deep knowledge of civil and structural engineering principles, methods, and best practices—especially in the design, maintenance, and rehabilitation of bridges, buildings, and underground structures; while being well‑versed in current design codes and regulatory frameworks, including Canadian Standards Association (CSA) guidelines and other relevant standards.
Good knowledge of construction activities and field inspection. Extensive Experience in concrete and steel structure design. Expert in structural design software and applications.
You possess a valid non‑probationary driver’s license and are willing to travel to various project sites, using personal vehicle if necessary.
Do you also have sound judgment and advanced analytical thinking to tackle complex engineering challenges? Skilled in problem‑solving, technical report writing, and clear verbal communication across multidisciplinary teams.
You have proven ability to coordinate and inspire cross‑functional teams to achieve project goals efficiently and effectively. You demonstrated the capability of preparing detailed structural designs, specifications, and accurate cost estimates that align with project requirements and budget constraints. You display familiarity with budgeting procedures and financial planning practices relevant to engineering projects.
