The Role
Reporting to the VP, Metallurgy & Process Engineering, the Principal, Project Metallurgist serves as the senior technical authority and subject matter expert (SME) for metallurgical and process engineering across Torex Gold’s project portfolio. This role provides technical leadership through the full project lifecycle, from early‑stage studies through engineering, commissioning, and operational readiness. The Principal, Project Metallurgist ensures metallurgical integrity in process design, oversees metallurgical test work and consultant deliverables, and supports optimization initiatives across the Morelos Complex and future development projects.
Working closely with corporate and site teams, the role ensures that metallurgical solutions are technically robust, aligned with project objectives, and ready for successful operational implementation.

What We’re Looking For
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in chemical, Metallurgical or Mineral Processing Engineering
Professional Engineer designation
Experience:
10+ years of progressive technical, operational, engineering, and project experience, including significant exposure to study and execution phases
At least 5+ years in process operations or operational support roles
Experience in precious and base metals processing, including water systems and tailings management
Demonstrated experience leading metallurgical inputs into PEA, Pre‑Feasibility and Feasibility studies
Experience approving flow sheets, plant modifications, plant expansions, and optimization strategies
Strong experience managing and governing consultant deliverables
Experience supporting operational readiness, pre‑commissioning, and commissioning
Skills:
Deep metallurgical and process engineering expertise
Strong governance mindset with the ability to challenge assumptions and ensure technical discipline
Ability to collaborate effectively with corporate leaders, project development teams, and site operations
Confident communicator capable of presenting to executive and site leadership
Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities
Experience working in multicultural environments
Spanish language knowledge (written, spoken, and read) is considered an asset
Key Accountabilities
Efficient Processing of Ore
In collaboration with the Principal Engineer, Geometallurgy, manages metallurgy and processing‑related test work for projects
Analyzes and reviews metallurgical parameters from Geometallurgy, and provides input and guidance around blending rates for projects
Management and Oversight of Ore Processing Design Aspect of Projects
Approves designs and plans related to metallurgy and processing as per the developed framework, including flowsheet development, modifications to existing facilities, and expansion to existing facilities
