About the Role
Lead RDQ activities to complete packaging design and deployment for innovation, growth, and productivity projects across multiple geographies, delivering the desired consumer experience. Coordinate technical work with RDQ, marketing, and manufacturing teams, manage status, risks, and stakeholder expectations, and lead packaging specification activities through sampling, supplier management, and pilot‑plant and factory trials in compliance with GMP and HACCP.
Responsibilities• Independently coordinate technical work for projects, ensuring alignment with RDQ, marketing, and manufacturing requirements.
• Communicate status and risks, and determine appropriate packaging specification information.
• Develop packaging design, specifications, scale‑up, commissioning, and other related activities.
• Plan resource use, including external agencies and suppliers, to execute projects effectively.
• Apply knowledge of equipment design and manufacturing processes to set packaging specifications with excellence.
• Manage stakeholder relationships and influence decision‑making based on analyses and interpretation of results.
• Build and leverage internal and external technical networks and create intellectual property to drive competitive advantage.
- Packaging development and/or deployment, ideally in fast‑moving consumer goods or consumer packaging goods environments.
- Leadership of teams and influence across cross‑functional groups.
- Planning and delivering multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Identification and solution of complex technical or business problems.
- Influencing senior and cross‑functional stakeholders, including technical report writing.
- Coaching and mentoring others.
- Championing consumer needs.
- Technical curiosity and collaborative mindset.
- Knowledge of printing processes to assess manufacturer performance and make appropriate recommendations.
- Understanding of product, process, and package interactions for material recommendations.
- Ability to work across all organizational levels.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, tailored to all audience levels.
- Experience achieving results with diverse teams.
- Strong prioritization, complexity management, time management, and problem‑solving skills.
- Bachelor of Science in Packaging Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 4‑5 years of experience in a packaging development role, including co‑op and/or internship experience.
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time for domestic or international vendor/manufacturing visits.
Salary and BenefitsThe expected base salary range is $84,500 to $105,650 CAD depending on experience, skills, education, and budget.
