Role Overview
The Structural Engineering Building Team in Toronto seeks a Structural BIM Technician to support the growth of the office and the team. The role involves establishing the structural framework from the engineer’s concept and independently developing and maintaining detailed structural BIM models and construction drawing packages from conceptual design through IFC stages.
Responsibilities- Complete 3D modelling of reinforced concrete, steel, and wood structures using Revit for a range of complex projects.
- Develop structural details and coordinate structural models with architectural, civil, and MEP disciplines, including clash detection and resolution.
- Apply sound technical judgment to translate engineering intent into accurate, constructible models and details.
- Review and coordinate models to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project standards prior to submission.
- Follow project BIM standards and contribute to model quality checks and coordination workflows using BIM
360. - Support quantity take-offs and cost estimates through model‑based quantity extraction, as required.
- Conduct manual surveys or integrate laser-scanning data for existing buildings and provide technical support during construction, as needed.
- High School Diploma, College or equivalent.
- Relevant experience in building structure and/or industrial structure design.
- Experience in a consulting engineering firm, architecture, or structural detailing.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in preparation of 3D BIM models and construction documents.
- Proficiency with Revit; knowledge of AutoCAD, Rhino, Grasshopper, and Tekla are also assets.
- Interest in new 3D technologies and the BIM process.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- French knowledge is an asset.
Expected compensation is between $70,000 and $90,000 annually, with base salaries determined by skills, experience, and potential impact on the role.
