About the OpportunityWe are currently looking for an Electrical Engineering Intern to join the Hardware Engineering team at Hitachi Rail in Toronto. The successful candidate will support hardware design and prototyping activities, as well as documentation release. In this role, you’ll gain exposure to the processes involved in developing products within an engineering environment, enhancing your understanding of our hardware products and their application in electrical designs.
KeyAccountabilities
- Assist with the design of Vehicle Onboard Controllers
- Help with the design and prototyping of test setups used for the qualification of hardware products
- Become familiar with and use the company process
- Assist the team with the release of the Engineering documentation
- Create, review, and verify hardware requirements
- Currently working toward an Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent
- Good written and oral communication skills; familiarity with a project work environment
- Knowledge of electrical components (transistors, resistors, capacitors, diodes, etc.) and basic circuits
- Ability to work independently and multi‑task
- Ability to grasp the big picture and apply critical thinking to resolve issues
- Attention to detail and curiosity about the criticality of activities
- Must be able to work 40 hours a week in a hybrid environment for the duration of the internship, with at least 2 days in the office per week
- Co‑op student available for a 4‑ or 8‑month term, with at least one additional quarter or semester of coursework remaining after the internship
- Previous co‑op work experience in the rail industry is an asset; relevant school projects may be considered
