Mechanical Designer

• Prepare production drawings and bills of material for Vista manufacturing per CSA/ANSI/UL standards using Micro Station and Solid Edge.
• Design steel details, steel assemblies, bus details, bus assemblies and associated bills of material for manufacturing.
• Prepare and issue engineering change notices and orders for product release and design changes.
• Produce custom Vista production drawings timely, adhering to internal drawing standards and production schedules.
• Prepare engineering design packages ready for final checking and review in line with group practices and project requirements.
• Analyze and recommend potential applications and custom features.
• Support other departments in production processes such as manufacturing, welding, and final assembly.

• College Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience designing switch gear or equivalent mechanical design experience.
• Proficient knowledge of 2D Micro Station or AutoCAD and 3D Solid Edge.
• Knowledge of sheet metal drafting and design, manufacturing methods and techniques.
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, high level of personal organization and interpersonal skill.
• Team player with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience with preparing medium‑voltage protection drawings.
• Intermediate knowledge of CSA, IEEE, and NEMA standards for switch gear.
• Ability to work closely with Mechanical and Electrical Designers to complete projects on schedule.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• Normal or frequent minor physical effort required: standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, and lifting or moving objects up to 20 lbs.
• Acceptable working environment with minor or almost no disagreeable or challenging conditions.
