Our continued growth in mining and metals means that we are looking for a Mining Engineer to join our outstanding Mining and Geology team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of challenging projects with our mining team.

As a Mining Engineer, you will participate in both sustaining and growth projects by collaborating with the BBA and client teams to deliver practical solutions to the complex nature of the mining industry. The successful candidate will be an underground mining professional with an interest in professional practice and is open to developing relationships with clients in the base metals / precious metals mining market.

He or she is a dynamic, creative and innovative mining engineer who can provide high‑quality consulting services to our growing base of clients.

Responsibilities

Provide mining engineering and design services for open pit and underground mine studies (scoping, prefeasibility, feasibility, detailed design, and NI 43‑101 technical reports) such as:

Importing block models

Mining method selection

Cut‑off value calculations

Open pit limit analysis, stope optimization and mine design

Mine planning and production scheduling

Equipment fleet calculations

Mineral reserves evaluations

Mining capital and operating cost calculations

Contribute to financial models

Write and contribute to study reports

Work in collaboration with our geology, rock mechanics, drill/blast and infrastructure teams

Manage the mining component of large projects; liaise with clients regarding technical matters and be able to professionally present results

Ensure quality service to clientele aiming to preserve BBA’s professional image

Certifications and

Job Requirements

Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Mining or Geological Engineering from a recognized University

Experience working at a mining operation, engineering and/or project evaluation

Minimum of 5 years of experience relevant to the position

Member of PEO or possibility to become a member of a professional association for engineers

High level of proficiency with open pit mining design and planning software packages (Deswik/Mine Sight preferred)

Experience in mine equipment selection, capital cost and operating cost estimates

Knowledge in the basics of budgeting, scheduling and financial modeling

Understanding of the various components required to make a mine a successful operation (processing, tailings, infrastructure)

Passion and aptitude for mentoring, training and sharing experiences with other engineers

Excellent communication and presentation skills, written and oral

Enthusiasm for prospection and growth of the firm

Fluent in the English language with excellent verbal and written communication skills

Proficiency in a second language (French or Spanish) is an asset

Ability to communicate with colleagues and clients in a professional and technical manner

Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally, for varying durations and at times to remote locations
