Position: Lead Piping Stress Engineer 1 - Nuclear
Piping Engineering & Analysis Synopsis
The Piping Engineering & Analysis discipline performs evaluations for piping systems in accordance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.7, and other applicable codes. The discipline also performs specialty topics such as vibration monitoring and analysis, hydraulic transients evaluation, pipe rupture evaluations, wall‑thinning due to FAC or MIC, and pipe flaw assessments.

Responsibilities

Provide senior‑level technical direction and supervision to project team members in the discipline.

Establish project task schedules and budgets to meet overall project requirements.

Coordinate activities between disciplines and ensure successful completion of project deliverables.

Serve as a technical liaison with the client and act as the lead technical resource on projects.

Lead engineers support engineering design projects by reviewing complex calculations, providing technical guidance, ensuring designs are technically sound, reviewing system/structural designs, performing engineering review of drawings, preparing specifications, evaluating bids, and preparing reports and studies.

Perform vibration monitoring and analysis, hydraulic transients, pipe rupture evaluations, and pipe wall‑thinning assessments.

Lead others in using modern tools, automation, and AI to improve workflows and reduce rework.

Work Schedule
This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and requires in‑office work 3 days per week, with flexibility to work remotely for two days.

Qualifications

BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Aerospace, Structural/Civil Engineering from a Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board‑accredited undergraduate program or a US‑based ABET‑accredited program, with emphasis on solid mechanics, structural analysis, theory of elasticity, metallurgy, and finite element analysis.

10 or more years of relevant experience.

Extensive knowledge of ASME B31.1 and ASME B&PV Section III piping codes.

Knowledge of pipe supporting element design, selection, and application.

Working knowledge of commercially available piping products and their application.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Citizen of a country listed in Appendix A to Part 810 of the Code of Federal Regulations.

No sponsorship for work authorization in Canada for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

P.Eng license.

Active Ontario Power Generation (OPG) security clearance.

Ability to navigate a 3D CAD model.

Experience with AutoPIPE or PIPESTRESS software.

Knowledge of gas dynamics and hydraulic transients.

Knowledge of pipe condition assessment.

Experience with ANSYS Workbench and Mechanical ADP.

Compensation Range
$130,193 - $179,016
