Position: Structural Design Coordinator (12-Month Contract)

The Building Engineering Services Group integrates mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil engineering to solve complex design challenges with precision, creativity, and collaboration, focusing on energy efficiency, resilient systems, and human experience.

Reporting to the Structural Engineer, the Structural Design Coordinator (12-month contract) is part of the integrated project team that contributes structural engineering knowledge and analysis during the design phase. The project mix includes building and non-building structures, with data centre projects a notable focus. The role involves working on multiple projects across various locations and may include construction contract administration, site inspections, and condition assessments.

Common progression paths include Structural Engineer (licensure) and technical specialization or project management.

Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations and assist in preparing cost estimates and specifications for structural engineering projects
  • Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures
  • Demonstrate experience in structural drafting of all phases of construction documents, and create structural drawings in AutoCAD and Revit from sketches and instructions
  • Work independently on small projects or assist more senior engineers on larger projects
  • Provide direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous structural design experience (internship or full-time) is a plus but not required
  • Skilled in CAD software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam Revu
  • Skilled in structural analytical programs like SAP
    2000, ETABS, SAFE, RISA3D, RAM, and similar apps
  • Knowledge of engineering principles for building structural systems (steel, concrete, masonry)
  • Past experience with an engineering firm
  • Independent learner capable of quickly acquiring new skills
  • Team player with strong communication and listening skills, self-starter and able to coordinate work with others
  • Good organizational skills and analytical judgment
  • Ability to rigorously audit, validate, and verify AI-generated outputs against core engineering fundamentals and regulations
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering
