Performance Engineer, Sustainability Infrastructure Services

What you will do

As a member of the Sustainability Infrastructure Services (SIS) Team, the site performance engineer will participate in design‑build and SIS infrastructure projects as a Facility Management/Building Engineering subject matter expert providing support to the Site Customer Business Managers. You will design conceptual solutions and operating plans for our sites, combining advanced expertise in energy management, security fire systems, building automation systems, operations and maintenance, and facilities management to solve critical customer needs over the long term.

• Work on medium to large complex commercial, industrial, institutional building construction projects from financial close through commissioning and start‑up of operations.
• Travel up to 50% to support site performance.
• Participate in design meetings to provide specialized engineering and energy advice to the CBM.
• Review operational site for engineering, energy, and operations efficiency opportunities.
• Provide operational support to keep critical key performance indicators.
• Incorporate JCI capabilities into customer solutions, shorten the development cycle, increase win rates, apply best practices, and minimize development costs.
• Assist in shop drawing reviews and review design submittals from RFP through construction to operating stage.
• Review equipment selection based on energy efficiency, operations, cont rollability, maintenance, accessibility, and life cycle costing (LCC).
• Review mechanical and electrical drawings and specifications for FM requirements.
• Deliver Project Co Energy Consumption Guarantee Target for NPV calculations, manage energy modeling consultant, and develop the energy model and final report.
• Review M&E value engineering proposals and evaluate them based on FM requirements.
• Assist the Customer Business Manager in developing variations and change orders, particularly assessing O&M and life‑cycle cost impact.
• Manage energy performance projects and performance reports.
• Understand contract terms and conditions, including KPIs and payment mechanisms.
• Develop maintenance operating procedures, standard operating procedures, and emergency operating procedures.

• Possess a strong understanding of regulatory, legislative, and business environments and procurement requirements unique to facility management.
• Participate in design meetings to provide specialized engineering and energy advice to the CBM during design and construction.
• Review operational sites for opportunities to improve engineering, energy, and operations efficiency.
• Provide operational support to maintain critical KPIs.
• Incorporate JCI capabilities into customer solutions, shorten development cycles, and increase win rates.
• Assist in shop drawing reviews and ensure major M&E and energy deliverables are satisfied from RFP through construction to operation.
• Review equipment selection for energy efficiency and cost effectiveness.
• Review D&C team mechanical and electrical drawings for FM suitability.
• Deliver Project Co energy consumption guarantees and manage energy modeling.
• Evaluate M&E value engineering proposals for FM compliance.
• Assist in developing change orders related to O&M and life‑cycle cost impacts.
• Maintain performance reports for energy projects.
• Understand contract terms, KPIs, and payment mechanisms.
• Develop emergency operating procedures to ensure uptime and mitigate operational risks.

• Completion of post‑secondary education in engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or a technical diploma; a combination of education and experience in construction and facility management will be considered.
• Advanced understanding of HVAC, security fire systems, building automation, and facility management.
• Subject matter expertise in building services engineering.
• Experience with building design or construction and excellent knowledge of related systems and services.
• Experience working in healthcare environments is an asset.
• 5+ years of experience in engineering and facility operations.
• Strong project management skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to plan and execute projects with high effectiveness.
• Customer service orientation.
• Travel up to 50% required.
• Strong analytical abilities related to energy performance and cost analysis.

Salary range: $87,700 - $117,100, based on education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
