We are excited to be partnering with our client on a permanent opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer. In this role, you’ll design and develop electrical systems for custom industrial refrigeration equipment while collaborating closely with mechanical engineers, PLC programmers, production teams, project managers, and service technicians. This is an opportunity to be involved throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept and design through manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and customer support.

- Design systems for custom industrial refrigeration and process cooling equipment.
- Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and interconnection drawings using Solid Works Electrical.
- Design motor control, power distribution, safety, and control circuits.
- Select and size electrical components including circuit breakers, transformers, contractors, overload protection, VFDs, relays, sensors, power supplies, and control devices.
- Design electrical systems supporting compressors, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, fluid coolers, and other refrigeration equipment.
- Collaborate closely with PLC programmers to ensure electrical hardware supports the intended control strategy.
- Develop I/O architectures and define field device integration requirements.
- Build and maintain Bills of Material (BOMs) within Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP.
- Ensure all electrical designs comply with Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), National Electrical Code (NEC), and applicable industry standards.
- Provide technical support to production during equipment assembly, testing, and manufacturing.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), commissioning activities, and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
- Support purchasing by evaluating component substitutions and supply chain alternatives.
- Assist service teams with field related troubleshooting and customer support.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product reliability, manufacturability, and cost effectiveness.
- Contribute to the development of electrical engineering standards, templates, and best practices.
- Occasionally travel to customer sites within the GTA to support installations and commissioning activities.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Eligible for registration as an EIT or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical design, industrial controls, automation, or power systems.
- Experience creating electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
- Strong understanding of industrial motor controls, power distribution systems, and electrical protection.
- Familiarity with PLC controlled equipment and industrial automation systems.
- Working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and/or National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Experience with Solid Works Electrical is considered a strong asset.
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar ERP systems is an asset.
