AGS Automotive Systems is a full-service automotive supplier specializing in the manufacture and supply of complex high value-add automotive metal components, including in particular front and rear impact assemblies, principally for pick-ups and the heavy truck market. Reporting to the Senior Corp Procurement Manager, the Capital & Tooling Buyer is responsible for the sourcing and management of all capital and tooling purchases, working as part of a cross-functional team with Engineering, Quality and our manufacturing plants. The incumbent will be a major participant / leader in new business launches and continuous improvement activities related to capital and tooling.

The main objective of the role is to negotiate the best deal possible whilst ensuring our suppliers provide quality goods. The incumbent is also responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of duties and responsibilities as outlined below in accordance with AGS' cultural priorities. • Maintain an approved supply base
• Prepare RFQ packages
• Analyze supplier quotations through cost breakdown analysis
• Recommend sourcing decisions based on cost, quality, delivery, and financial stability
• Negotiate all commercial aspects of tooling purchases including payment terms
• Support on time delivery of items through participation in the PDT process
• Work with Tooling Engineering to evaluate and develop new tooling sources
• Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers
• Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible
• All other duties, as assigned

• Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products and materials and advise others of any impact
• Attend meetings and update others on issues or concerns, in particular when there is a risk which could prevent the organization meeting customer demands
• Support product change requests and review and communicate the impact on capacity plans
• Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and ensure good communications
• Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all relationships

• High School Diploma required. College Diploma/University Degree in a related field is an asset
• Proven purchasing experience preferably within the automotive industry focusing on capital and tooling function
• Able to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers
• Strong negotiation, communication, presentation, interpersonal and influencing skills
• Analytical, numerically astute with strong proven problem-solving abilities
• Strong Excel skills
• Strong technical knowledge and understanding of automotive processes, components and supply chain management

• Results orientated with the ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines
• Commercially and financially aware
• Keen attention to detail and accuracy

• Able to occasionally travel domestically and to the USA
