JOB SUMMARY

The Energy Engineer – Lighting Systems & Renewable Technologies is the technical authority for the development, engineering, and technical assurance of lighting, lighting controls, solar PV, and related electrical efficiency measures delivered through Ontario utility and IESO-administered energy efficiency programs, including Save on Energy custom and prescriptive pathways, and Blackstone performance contracting models.

This role leads lighting and electrical audits, develops Investment Grade Feasibility Studies (IGFS), and ensures measures are defined in accordance with IESO program rules, baseline and eligibility requirements, codes and standards, and measurement and verification (M&V) protocols. The Engineer provides technical oversight through design development and implementation review to ensure installed systems align with the approved design intent, savings assumptions, and utility incentive documentation.

Note:

This role is focused on engineering accountability and design intent assurance.

  • Provide compliance assessment of current lighting levels to applicable codes and standards (IES, CSA, OBC)
Measure Development & IESO Program Alignment
  • Develop complete, utility-ready measure scopes suitable for Save on Energy prescriptive and custom applications, and ESCO delivery, including:
    • Design intent and basis of design
    • Equipment schedules and technical specifications
    • Control narratives and sequences of operation
