We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Toronto/Ottawa/Calgary/Vancouver office, supporting projects across a range of complex building and infrastructure sectors, including healthcare, laboratories, commercial, higher education, aviation, and rail.
This role offers a high degree of autonomy, with the successful candidate leading electrical design efforts in their office while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in across the country.
Responsibilities
Lead the design and delivery of electrical systems on medium to large-scale, complex projects, with a strong focus on the design of electrical systems; including power, lighting, fire alarm, grounding, and electrical interconnection systemsAct as the lead electrical designer, taking ownership of technical quality, coordination, and deliveryWork on local projects while collaborating with regional teams as requiredPrepare drawings, specifications, technical reports, and presentation materialsPresent technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiencesMaintain strong client relationships, supporting successful project delivery and repeat businessUphold quality standards, support commercial metrics, and contribute to overall project performanceParticipate in local professional associations and contribute to the professional communityPerform calculations for electrical systems, including load analysis, short-circuit analysis, voltage drop calculations, and photometric calculationsSelect electrical equipment and coordinate the selection and specifications of this equipment with relevant suppliersPrepare contract documents describing the design of electrical systems and write technical design statementsContribute to the development of technical specificationsCoordinate work with architects, contractors, and equipment supplierCoordinate across multiple disciplines to deliver results-oriented projects
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering PhysicsAt least 8 years experience designing building and infrastructure related electrical systemsBe a licensed Professional Engineer in at least one Canadian jurisdictionProficiency with 3D BIM tools, preferably Revit MEPStrong knowledge of applicable Canadian standards and CodesDemonstrated ability to work independently and lead the electrical discipline on projectsExperience working in multi-disciplinary team environmentsPreferred Skills
Ability to establish and effectively manage priorities and deadlines; strong organizational skills required for our fast-paced and constantly evolving environmentExcellent writing skills to communicate electrical system design concepts and strategies both internally and externallyAbility to present technical content to both specialized and non-specialist audiencesExperience with power system modeling using SKM, ETAP, or similar softwareExperience working on federal government projects or within regulated project environments
