Looking for a new and exciting job opportunity? We are looking for a Senior Designer, Communications (OT Network Architect) to join our team!

This position performs design duties and manages the activities associated with the network design and/or maintenance of systems and equipment related to assigned work. The role provides design and technical support and guidance to staff. Work includes coordinating design services with operating, construction and commissioning schedules. Inspecting, assessing, and preparing design details for the modification and rehabilitation of various communications to ensure acceptable standards of performance and reliability.

Conducting comprehensive testing programs, diagnosing complex network problems, preparing reports and recommendations related to design work requirements, priorities, budgets and schedules.

The role provides overall engineering expertise, support and guidance to maintenance staff on a 24-hour basis.

What You Will Do
  • Develop and maintain the architecture, standards, and design frameworks for Operational Technology (OT) network infrastructure supporting critical transit operations.
  • Lead the planning, design, integration, testing, and commissioning of OT network solutions for capital expansion, state-of-good-repair, and modernization projects.
  • Establish network design standards, technical specifications, and cybersecurity requirements to ensure reliability, availability, maintainability, and security of operational systems.
  • Conduct architecture reviews and provide technical governance for network-related projects to ensure compliance with corporate standards and industry best practices.
  • Evaluate emerging networking, telecommunications, and cybersecurity technologies and provide recommendations for future implementation.
  • Provide senior technical leadership and subject matter expertise related to OT network architecture, network security, routing, switching, wireless communications, and system integration.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Engineering, and external stakeholders to support the delivery of safe and reliable transit services.
  • Lead root cause investigations and complex technical assessments involving critical network infrastructure and operational systems.
  • Provide supervisory leadership to the Network Team, including assigning work, establishing priorities, monitoring workload, and ensuring projects and operational activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established standards.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop technical staff by providing guidance, training, performance feedback, and support for professional development.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee the daily activities of the network team to ensure reliable operation, maintenance, and enhancement of Operational Technology (OT) network infrastructure.
  • Participate in workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and performance management processes in accordance with TTC policies and procedures.
