Mott Mac Donald is seeking a passionate Advisory Consultant, Carbon & Decarbonization to support the delivery of climate and sustainability advisory services across infrastructure, transportation, energy, water, and built environment projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity to help clients understand, measure, manage, and reduce carbon emissions while supporting their transition to a low-carbon future.
Working alongside multidisciplinary teams and sustainability specialists, you will contribute to carbon assessments, decarbonization planning, net-zero strategies, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions modelling, and sustainability initiatives. You will help clients navigate evolving regulatory requirements, sustainability commitments, and climate goals while identifying practical pathways to reduce emissions and improve environmental performance.
This role is ideal for a consultant with a strong understanding of carbon accounting, infrastructure sustainability, and decarbonization strategies who is looking to grow their expertise while delivering meaningful outcomes for clients and communities.
Key Responsibilities- Support the delivery of greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories, carbon footprint assessments, and emissions modelling for infrastructure, energy, transportation, and development projects.
- Conduct carbon assessments across the project life cycle, including embodied carbon, operational carbon, and user carbon.
- Support the development of decarbonization pathways, net-zero strategies, and carbon reduction action plans for public and private sector clients.
- Analyze emissions data and identify opportunities for carbon reduction, energy efficiency, renewable energy integration, and sustainable infrastructure solutions.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports, client presentations, and sustainability documentation, translating complex carbon and climate concepts into clear and actionable recommendations.
- Support the integration of carbon management and sustainability objectives into project planning, design, procurement, and delivery processes.
- Review and apply relevant carbon accounting methodologies, standards, and frameworks, including, CAGBC Zero Carbon Building Standards, GHG Protocol, ISO standards, PAS 2080, and other industry best practices.
- Collaborate with engineering, planning, environmental, and advisory teams to develop low-carbon infrastructure solutions.
- Support climate-related disclosures, sustainability reporting, and ESG initiatives where required.
- Participate in stakeholder workshops, engagement activities, and technical discussions related to carbon management and decarbonization.
- Assist with business development activities, including proposal preparation, and research.
- Contribute to thought leadership, knowledge sharing, and the continuous development of Mott Mac Donald's carbon and sustainability advisory capabilities.
