Stations, Civils & Track program is seeking a Project Manager
Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Contract up to 20 months.
What Will I Be Doing?- Oversee and manage complex capital transportation corridor infrastructure projects through all stages of design, construction, and close-out; coordinate project management responsibilities, review project progress, identify deficiencies and opportunities, and recommend solutions, consistent with corporate commitments.
- Oversee project scope and quality of work, identify existing and potential issues, and initiate corrective action to mitigate project delays or budget impacts; determine what requires escalation and initiate appropriate action accordingly.
- Collaborate and effectively coordinate with consultants, contractors, internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, municipal authorities, private utility companies, railways, etc., on the Project Agreement, timelines, deliverables, changes, and other issues impacting project progress, quality, cost, and safety.
- Oversee day-to-day project construction, testing, commissioning, and handover progress; participate in related meetings and provide input to resolve issues.
- Integrate corporate requirements, commitments, and initiatives into projects, including design requirements, environmental assessment conditions, Railway requirements, and municipal commitments.
- Estimate project engineering, construction, and contingency costs, review change orders, and forecast time frames for project implementation and funding expenditures.
- Work with customer and community stakeholder relations to identify and rectify situations promptly and in a timely manner.
- Identify and act on issues and risks; collaborate with Manager and other team members to ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Coordinate procurement of contracts, property requests for acquisitions, purchase orders, change orders for supply/construction contracts and addenda for consultant assignments.
- Manage all aspects of project scope of work; initiate, prepare, and present agreements that govern the engagement of consultants, suppliers, and contractors for execution.
- Review and evaluate consultant and/or planning studies, reports, design proposals, specifications and contract documents for compliance with Metrolinx policies, procedures and standards, and any other applicable industry guidelines / practices.
- Supervise staff engaged in all stages of the project management cycle.
Skills & Qualifications Do I Need?
- Completion of a university degree in Engineering or related field – or a combination of relevant education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
- Possession of P.Eng. and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) is an asset.
- Demonstrates years of experience in project management, preferably within the public sector.
- Demonstrated project management skills and experience managing multiple complex projects under pressure to meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements (including cost control, scheduling, codes, standards, specifications, corporate policies and procedures and applicable environmental legislation).
- Excellent oral, written/presentation, and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively in a large, matrix team environment.
