We are seeking an experienced  Senior Project Engineer  with a strong background in the  mining and metals industry  to join our project delivery team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the development and delivery of a major mining and/or metals project, supporting the project from the early engineering and planning stages through procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.

The position will initially be  office-based , supporting project development, engineering coordination, design reviews, project planning, procurement support, constructability reviews and preparation for project execution. Following the award of the EPCM contract and transition into the construction phase, the role will become  FIFO site-based , providing engineering leadership and technical coordination in the field. The Senior Project Engineer will act as a critical link between engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, project controls, contractors, vendors and the client.

The role requires strong technical and project delivery experience, excellent communication skills and the ability to operate effectively in both an office and remote construction environment.

About

The Role

Provide senior engineering support throughout the project lifecycle from engineering development through construction and commissioning.

Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities across civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and process disciplines.

Review engineering deliverables, drawings, specifications, calculations and technical documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements.

Coordinate interfaces between engineering disciplines and identify potential design conflicts or gaps.

Support the development and implementation of engineering execution plans, procedures and work processes.

Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, HAZIDs, constructability reviews, value engineering workshops and technical coordination meetings.

Ensure engineering decisions are aligned with project scope, schedule, budget, constructability, operability and maintainability requirements.

Identify technical risks and work with the Project Engineering Manager and discipline leads to develop appropriate mitigation strategies.

Support the management of technical queries, design changes, deviations, concessions and engineering clarifications.

Support the EPCM team in delivering the project in accordance with the approved scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements.

Coordinate engineering activities with procurement and construction requirements to ensure the project remains execution ready.

Monitor engineering progress and identify potential impacts to procurement, construction and commissioning schedules.

Work closely with project controls to understand engineering progress, forecasts, critical path activities and schedule risks.

Participate in project progress meetings and provide engineering status updates.

Assist with the development and maintenance of project schedules, engineering deliverables registers and action-item trackers.

Ensure engineering deliverables are released in accordance with project priorities and construction requirements.

Support the implementation of project change management processes.
