Position: Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Engineer to ensure the electromagnetic compatibility of railway products and signaling systems operating in complex traction power environments. This role will provide technical expertise in EMC design, testing, compliance, and problem-solving while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering and testing teams.

Position Responsibilities EMC Design & Compliance
  • Enforce EMC design rules across signaling subsystems.
  • Verify product and subsystem designs for EMC compliance.
  • Identify and resolve EMC-related challenges encountered throughout projects.
  • Ensure designs meet applicable EMC requirements and standards.
Specifications & Documentation
  • Prepare EMC Transverse Requirements Specifications and Control Plans.
  • Prepare and review EMC test specifications and reports.
  • Develop clear and comprehensive EMC compliance documentation.
  • Maintain and improve EMC guidelines, processes, and technical tools.
Testing & Validation
  • Conduct EMC testing in laboratory and on-site environments.
  • Analyze test results and identify potential electromagnetic interference issues.
  • Develop and recommend solutions to address EMC challenges.
  • Prepare technical reports associated with EMC testing and validation activities.
Technical Collaboration
  • Work closely with signaling, product design, testing, and other engineering teams.
  • Support 25KV immunization activities for signaling equipment.
  • Share EMC and EMI knowledge and best practices across the engineering community.
  • Promote continuous improvement in EMC engineering practices.
Prerequisites
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in EMI/EMC.
  • More than 5 years of EMI/EMC experience.
  • Experience in railway, military, aerospace, automotive, or another technically regulated industry.
  • Knowledge of railway systems and 25KV traction power environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent technical writing skills with clarity, rigor, and concision.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Fluency in English.
  • A proactive, adaptable, and solutions-oriented approach.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
  • P.Eng. certification or progress toward obtaining it.
  • Additional certifications or specialized training in EMC, EMI, electrical engineering, railway systems, or related disciplines are an advantage.
