ResearchAssociate – Securities and Finance Practice (Toronto)
We are looking for a talented economist with a background in finance, accounting, and/or statistics to join our Securities and Finance practice in Toronto, starting July 2026.
Representative projects:
- Estimating damages and assessing loss causation in complex commercial litigation matters, including breach of contract, bankruptcy, fraudulent conveyance, auditor liability, and valuation of illiquid assets and businesses.
- Analysis of class certification issues.
- Analysis of trading strategies and alleged market manipulation.
- Financial regulatory research work.
Responsibilities:
- Design and build quantitative models and apply econometric analysis to economic and financial data.
- Conduct valuation analyses, review, summarize, and analyze industry trends, competitor and academic research.
- Create trial exhibits and presentation materials.
- Draft memos and expert reports.
- Participate in client meetings and conference calls.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field.
- Strong coursework and/or experience in statistical analysis, econometrics and computer programming.
- Proficiency with R, Python, and/or SAS preferred.
- Detail‑oriented, analytical, critical thinking skills and excellent communication abilities.
- Minimum travel: little to none.
