About the Role

As a Residential Underwriter you will adjudicate mortgage applications by assessing prospective clients in accordance with the 5 C’s (Capacity, Capital, Collateral, Character, and Conditions). The focus is on risk assessment and ensuring all applications meet quality and service standards.

Key responsibilities:

  • Make prudent credit decisions on complex mortgage files
  • Receive, review, analyze and verify mortgage applications for completeness, accuracy, suitability and risk
  • Ensure compliance with Home Trust Company’s underwriting policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Adhere to compliance obligations, including Privacy, AML/ATF, and internal Anti‑Fraud Policy
  • File Unusual Transaction Reports where required
  • Maintain accurate application records and detailed notes
  • Prepare and issue conditional mortgage commitments outlining all conditions required by Home Trust
What We Require
  • Authorized to work in Canada
  • Strong communication skills
  • Post‑secondary degree or diploma in business, finance or related field (university an asset)
  • 3–5 years of mortgage lending experience
