About the Role:

Our client, a large reputable Real Estate investment, development and property management company is seeking an experienced and strategic Director, Finance & Administration to lead their finance and property administration functions across their residential portfolio. You will oversee all aspects of real estate finance, accounting, data analytics, and property administration, managing a team of approximately 29 professionals, supported by Controllers and Financial Reporting leads.

This role reports to senior finance leadership and partners closely with the residential asset management team, ensuring financial integrity, operational efficiency, and compliance.


Responsibilities:
  • Leadership & Team Management: Provide strategic direction, guidance, and mentorship to the finance and administration team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage corporate overhead, fee income, and overall financial performance for the residential portfolio.
  • Accounting & Compliance: Ensure accounting practices comply with IFRS, internal policies, and regulatory requirements; maintain robust internal controls.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Oversee preparation and review of internal and external financial reporting, including third-party property management data.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the preparation of property budgets and forecasts and ensure accurate delivery to clients and stakeholders.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Support business growth, new asset onboarding, capital projects, process improvements, and technology initiatives.
  • Policy & Process Development: Collaborate with senior finance leadership to develop and implement policies and procedures that strengthen operations and compliance.
Qualifications:
  • CPA Designation required
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience ideally spend in the Real Estate industry with heavy exposure to Residential portfolios
  • Previous leadership experience managing large teams
  • Experience with IFRS reporting standards
  • Experience with Yardi considered and asset
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, change management, and strategic planning
