Purpose:
Athene has established a Canadian Service Company in order to continue to attract and develop professional talent and to support business units in the WDM and Bermuda locations.
Reporting to the Director of EBS valuation in Toronto, Athene seeks a dynamic and proactive individual to join their actuarial valuation team focusing on Economic Balance Sheet regulatory reporting.
Although this role is located in the Canadian Office, collaboration with teammates in both Canada and Bermuda as well as various stakeholders throughout Athene locations will occur.
Accountabilities:
Produce and review quarterly Bermuda Economic Balance Sheet (EBS) ResultsDevelop and maintain asset and liability modelsProvide support to new business transactionsWork closely with asset managers and risk department to review asset assumptions.Review and investigate modeling results, working closely with the modeling teamsCommunicate results to senior management and investorsDocument and build out of necessary controlsImprove and modernize parts valuation and financial reporting processesQualifications and
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science or related field and completion of at least 3 exams and actively working towards ASA/FSA designation, plus at least 6 years of experienceExperience with Python, Power Query and SQL preferred.Demonstrated experience within Actuarial modeling software such as AXIS preferred but not requiredDemonstrated desire to take initiative and run with projectsExperience with any of the following would be beneficial:
Annuities / Pension Risk Transfers Embedded Value Reporting Principal Based Reserving Asset-Liability management
Internal Capital Model
CGAAP Reporting/CALM/LICATIndexed / Variable AnnuitiesProficient in MS Office suite and any actuarial valuation softwareComfortable working in a flat structured organization and interacting with executive management/investors is essentialAbility to view “big picture”, understand broad corporate impacts, and focus on company objectivesStrong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage several projects is a mustExcellent oral and written English language skillsStrong interpersonal skills preferred.
